Alberta PNP Program

Canada has created two provincial nomination draws for Express Entry applicants seeking to immigrate to the province of Alberta. Federal Express Entry is open for those who are matching Requirements.

On July 17, Alberta declared a whole of 251 Notifications of Interest (NOI) to Express Entry candidates including Comprehensive Ranking System(CRS) scores originating at 400.

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) for Canada Express Entry – Canada visa…

The Comprehensive Ranking System ranks eligible candidates for immigration to Canada through Express Entry.

A week later, on July 24, there were 220 NOIs sent to 220 applicants with CRS scores as below as 303.

The Notification of Interest was published as part of the Alberta Express Entry Stream choice in which the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program can examine the federal Express Entry system for aspirants who match the stream’s skill requirements and call them to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence(PR).

A year ago, the first Alberta Express Entry-Stream Selection draw, which took place, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program has held 26 draws—circulating an amount of 5,063 NOIs.

To be considered by this stream, as well as several other Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), the initial step is to build an Express Entry profile.

No employment offer or prior work experience in Alberta is asked to be suitable for the Alberta Express Entry Stream. However, candidates should be serving in an occupation that promotes the province’s business development and diversification preferences. The province does not give a list of qualified occupations.

Candidates must also have an Express Entry CRS score of at least 300 in Express Entry stream.

The AINP states it may give preference to candidates with:

  • A job offer or work experience in Alberta
  • A degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a legitimate job offer; or
  • A child, parent or relative already living in Alberta.

Some portions decrease a candidate’s likelihood of getting an invitation from Alberta, such as:

  • The Express Entry expiry period is within three months of the draw
  • Certain professions such as those listed in the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations program
  • Alberta’s Express Entry Stream draws applicants with CRS scores that are much lower than those drawn through Federal Express Entry draws.

On July 10, 2019, the score of 425 was the highest so far in the AINP draws. Still, it was well under the usual recent cut-off score for a federal Express Entry draw, which was 459.

So far, the score of 438 is the lowest cut-off score in the 13 all-program federal Express Entry draw in 2019.

Alberta has selected Express Entry aspirants with CRS scores as low as 300 through the Alberta Express Entry Stream. CRS score of 301 is the minimum and one other had a cut-off CRS score of 302.

Express Entry applicants with a provincial nomination incur an additional 600 CRS points and are completely guaranteed an ITA for Canadian permanent residence.
